I’m still not sure – can I arrange a no-obligation consultation?

Of course, I can provide you with a no-obligation initial consultation in which I can assess the condition of your hair in order to estimate the costs of a hair transplant. Afterwards you can take time to consider whether to accept my offer. If you wish to talk to me personally, please make an appointment by telephone or e-mail. For me it is very important to give each patient individual care. I personally carry out consultation, the actual treatment and any check-ups required.

Is a hair transplant painful?

As the operation is carried out using local anaesthesia, there is no pain at all. However, the areas where hair is removed remain somehwat sensitive for three days. This can be eased using mild painkillers. Many patients are surprised at how uncomplicated treatment is and say that a visit to the dentist is much worse!

Which different autologous hair transplant methods are there?

Most hair surgeons work with the FUE method (Follicular Unit Extraction), which however has certain drawbacks for the patient. On the one hand, the whole of the back of the head has to be shaved, hair removal is time-consuming and in addition, 20-30% of the hair follicles are destroyed during the procedure. This is particularly inconvenient if there is only a small amount of hair to begin with. If the scars heal well, this method results in many small, round scars.Another method is the “S & P Extraction”, which is a little more complicated and time-consuming for the surgeon, which however achieves the best results for the patient. I work exclusively with this method, as it avoids the many disadvantages of the FUE method. My operation method involves removing up to 120 small hair grafts (standard grafts). These are then divided up into 1400 small micro-grafts in a complex procedure. They then consist of only one to three hairs. These are then implanted into the hairless parts of the recipient site, which are prepared accordingly beforehand. Each hair removed is reinserted without any loss and only a slight, barely visible line remains as a scar.

How is a hair transplant carried out?

The operation itself is carried out in pleasant surroundings using local anaesthesia. Its duration is between three and seven hours. For hair removal, a strip one to two centimetres wide has to be shaven on the back of the head – and not the rest of the hair. Then, the plugs, which are around five millimeters in size are removed together with the hair root. After the grafts have been split, they are implanted into the corresponding areas on the bald patch or forehead. Tiny portions of skin are removed from these areas beforehand. To achieve a natural-looking effect it is important to take account of the direction of hair growth. The arrangement of the hairline is also a decisive factor. The surgeon’s experience is just as important here as a certain level of creativity. The healing process takes only a few days, as the scalp is well supplied with blood. The hair roots are then in place and after around three months, new hair begins to grow. In order to achieve the best possible results, two operations at an interval of three months are usually required.

The price could thus be at your disadvantage.
